I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again. Them Brazilians know what they’re doing when they make food. Seriously. From their lasagna to their simpler cheese pizzas and appetizing coconut chocolate pizzas, to snack foods I haven’t even covered yet, they have a knack for making me gain weight! One of my fondest memories of their food was the first Friday that I was in São Paulo and there was a pizza bar at the place I was training at. They had pizza covered in cinnamon sugar, chocolate and bananas. I was super. super. super skeptical. But I was hungry. So cinnamon chocolate banana pizza it was.
I think I ate 8 slices.
So, I now present my cinnamon chocolate banana pizza (featuring my recent pizza dough recipe — just omit the bacon and chives)! Don’t say I didn’t warn you about how good it is.
Some quick tips for the recipe. Make sure that your bananas are ripe (check out my cinnamon chocolate chip coconut banana bread for some tips on that). Ripe bananas MAKE this recipe. There’s little sweeter than a perfectly ripe banana. By the same token, there’s little as disconcerting as an unripened banana.
Second tip: pizza was meant to be cooked HOT. I mean, HOT. So make sure that you heat the oven to 500 degrees. It might seem a bit too hot, but it’ll be just right. If you have a pizza stone, use it. If you don’t, make sure that you use something like a cookie sheet that has plenty of space. The thickness of the crust is entirely up to you — just know that you may need to adjust the cooking time by about a minute or two depending on what you do.
The rest is all pretty self-explanatory.
In recent news, the Salt Lake Comic Con was last week. And it. was. awesome. I’ve always been a bit apprehensive about conventions like Comic Con, but I figured that it was worth a shot. It totally was. You get some crazies in every bunch, but most of these were the fun kind of crazy, which is always preferable. Some stand out presentations were given. Three that really stick out in my memory are Cary Elwes (Wesley from the Princess Bride), Patrick Warburton (Kronk from Emperor’s New Groove and also in a bajillion other things) and Leonard Nimoy (original Spock). Just really great interviews.
Aside from all of that one thing I couldn’t help but think about was how much time was put into the costumes. You’d be a pro at just about anything if you spent the same amount of time on something you like as these people do on costumes. And that’s kind of awesome that people have something that they care enough about to pour in so much of their souls. But it kills me, because so many people spend their time on things that they hate. My 2 cents? Spend time on what you adore, become amazing at it and carve out your own niche. It’s really hard to do, but it’s so worth it. Honestly. I used to work with things that drove me absolutely insane. I made money, but I hated my life. Not worth it. So if you want to do something, then do it. You might fail at first (practically nobody came to this site in its first 5 months), but you’ll get better and you will end up satisfied with your work and efforts.
But anyway. This pizza is seriously worth it. Seriously. Cook it. Eat it. Check for the recipe after you subscribe (if you like)!
