As a child, Superbowl Sunday always meant getting the biggest hoagie you ever did see and downing as much as we could! The leftovers from that hoagie were the best part. I already published two great hoagie/cheesesteak recipes for sandwich lovers. But I hear that some people like finger food for the big game! And that’s why today, while you’re prepping your calendar, we’re going to talk about Game Day chocolate pretzels.
How do I make them?
It’s as simple as dipping some pretzel sticks in chocolate. Isn’t that great to hear? My whole thing is DIY food, all done from scratch, but sometimes it’s nice to hear that all you need to do is buy the ingredients, throw them together, and eat! You can even make them several days in advance and keep them in the fridge.
Of course, if you wanted to get creative about it, all sorts of options lie open to you. You could dip the chocolate dipped pretzel into crushed nuts, you could make a chocolate syrup, you could serve with candied bacon, or you could crumble the pretzels and hide them inside a molten brownie! You could even serve them alongside peanut butter bacon brownie bites for extra oomph!
I just sprinkle them with some kosher salt and have fun with it, but you can do whatever you’d like with them!
Now go make these so they’ll be ready for Sunday!
- 1 bag pretzel sticks
- 1 pound of chocolate (note: your chocolate milage may vary)
- (opt.) 4 Tbsp peanut butter
- Coarse salt to finish (sea salt or kosher will work fine here)
- Melt the chocolate carefully to keep it from burning (microwave for 15 second bursts and stirring is the safest way)
- fold peanut butter into chocolate
- Dip pretzel sticks into chocolate
- Sprinkle with coarse salt
- Enjoy!
